Duties/Responsibilities
We are currently recruiting for a Handyperson to be based on our client site in the North West.
 
Working hours: 8:00am - 17:00pm
 
  • To provide general maintenance and repair services in support of a multi-disciplinary maintenance team.
  • Routine planned and response maintenance tasks as directed by Site Manager / Supervisor, covering building and to include changing light bulbs, stopping leaks, fixing taps, rehanging doors, repairing damaged wood work, replacing floor tiles, touching up paint work and any other maintenance tasks in support of the multi-skilled delivery team

  • Undertake L8 compliance testing and response maintenance tasks, including temperature monitoring and chlorination of water systems

  • Escort sub-contractors on site ensuring compliance with site security and safety protocols.

  • Act as a fire marshal when required

  • Provide 1st Aid cover and respond to emergencies as required.

  • To ensure that all relevant paperwork is completed satisfactorily and to the expected standard

  • To be responsible for the care and proper use of building maintenance equipment and tools

  • To carry out PAT testing

  • Ensure that spares and materials are used in a cost effective manner

  • Support other team members

  • To undertake all duties in a safe, tidy and responsible manner in accordance with H&S requirements

  • To carry out other duties as may be reasonably requested from time to time by site management or the client

  • Assist in compiling quotes including labour and parts ensuring each task's priority is met

  • To follow EMCOR's code of conduct

  • Manage your own workload and work efficiently

  • Comply with the client's company rules and maintain a high standard of discipline

  • Provide high standard of workmanship at all times

  • Attend all relevant training and safety briefs

  • Adhere to company, client and regulatory safety rules and play active part in promoting good safety practices 

Person Specification
 
    • Hold a minimum NVQ level 2 or 3 in carpentry or demonstrate competence
    • Competence in surface finishing including general painting and carpet tiles.
    • Knowledge of Legionella regulations
    • Experience in general minor plumbing tasks
    • Experience in building work is desirable
    • Hold an in date 1stAid at Work qualification or be willing to undertake training
    • General awareness of Health & Safety regulation
    • Knowledge of permit to work system
    • Able to undertake training and development where required
    • Undertaken relevant Health & Safety training
    • Willing to work towards IOSH Managing Safely
    • Essential Personal Attributes:

    • Be prepared to be on-call to provide escorting duties as part of the business resilience response team.
