We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer for our site in Porton Down, Wiltshire.
Hours of Work: 40 hrs per week, 08.00-17.00 with 1hr unpaid lunch
Job Purpose:
Under the direction of the Multi-skilled Engineering Team Leader to carry out maintenance functions at the PHE Porton Down.  In particular the post-holder will be responsible for Mechanical Boiler / Pressure systems and Building maintenance services.
Principle Accountabilities:
  • Ensuring all Planned Preventative Maintenance is completed to schedule

  • Carry out routine maintenance work associated with all mechanical and pressure systems.

  • The job will require maintenance activities on steam systems, autoclaves and electrical equipment. There will be a requirement to gain a site credited Competent Person Pressure Systems certificate.  

  • Rectification of defects, ensuring all performance standards are met in accordance with the contract.

  • Support the Multi-skilled Mechanical Engineering Team Leader in all aspects of Compliance.

  • Ensure full compliance of the company’ Safety Rules and apply good engineering and safety practices.

  • Adherence to the Quality Management System applied to all M&E systems

Person Specification
  • Time served apprenticeship or qualification to ONC Level or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Ability to demonstrate technical expertise, and experience in mechanical engineering disciplines.

  • Steam system or pressure system experience would be an advantage.

  • Experience in the preparation and operation of planned maintenance systems.

  • Able to manage day to day client interactions in a positive and friendly manner.

  • Be able to communicate effectively and have flexible approach to work patterns
