Duties/Responsibilities

We are currently recruiting for a Communications Data Engineer to be based from our Portsmouth office, this is mobile role that will cover Woking, London, Porton Down and sometimes Brighton. 

 
Working hours: 8:00 - 17:00

Job Purpose

Responsible for the installation, test and commission of data and containment systems throughout the EMCOR portfolio.

Duties/Responsibilities/Accountabilities/Deliverables: 

  • To carry out the installation, termination and testing of fibre optical, structured cabling and voice systems to a high level of understanding from a technical perspective
  • Have responsibility for the supervision, installation and guidance reporting to the project manager on a technical level for all systems
  • Be competent for the selection and installation of all types of containment systems to regulatory standards.
  • To be able to communicate on a technical basis for fibre and data coms systems with the client and colleagues and show aptitude to support and consult in this field  
  • Working to, and development of programs on individual mobile basis as well as small projects teams
  • Basic familiarity of voice and network switching would be of benefit for moves add and changes.
  • Have good experience in the motivation and maintaining of production levels, following high standards of workmanship.
  • Experience in working in security or security environments, (security clearance)
  • To ensure Health & Safety matters are implemented at all times
  • To take responsibility of all actions and ensure PPE is worn and maintained
  • Maintain all plant and specialist tools as supplied by EMCOR in good condition that allows all works to be carried out in a safe manner
  • Comply with all EMCOR procedures and processes
  • Maintain and build a strong relationship between the client and EMCOR UK
  • Carry out all reasonable requests from Management
Person Specification
  • Ability to install, terminate and test all types of fibre optical and structured cabling systems, interrogate and fault find using specialist equipment such as OTDR and Fluke testers.
  • Ability to be able to select and review for appropriate types of containment systems and install following regulatory guidelines and requirements to a high level of compliance.
  • Minimum of three year’s plus experience of working within a similar role of leadership
  • Must be able to communicate to customers in a professional and consistent professional and technical level.
  • Must be smart and presentable in appearance following and promoting company branding
  • Must be able to generate and complete paperwork following company procedures to ensure an auditable trail  for all activities.
  • Must be able to work and participate in a large team environment and make suggestions and decision based on best practice 
  • Must be able to take direction and instruction from the site managers and communicate down to teams
  • Willing to work in secure and sensitive environment on an exclusively manned site.
  • Be willing to work on a mobile basis and travel / stay away as required (UK mainland)
