Role overview
Required to undertake duties as directed and respond to reactive requests, providing best practice in all cleaning activities carried out to uphold company values at all times and to meet contractual deliverables.
What you’ll do:
- Carry out cleaning tasks to ensure the agreed standards and ensure workload is prioritised and completed.
- Ensure any repairs noticed during cleaning duties are reported.
- Ensure a timely response to any service shortfalls identified.
- Conduct all necessary daily maintenance on machinery (as trained) and report any issues.
- Carry out additional or special cleans as instructed.
- Ensure adequate stocks of consumables are available in nominated cleaning stores and where necessary requests for replenishments are submitted.
- Attend and complete training as required.
- Use chemicals and equipment as trained.
- Liaise with customers and clients in a professional manner, escalating as required to ensure resolution.
- To always work safely, raising any health and safety risks or hazards.
- Good housekeeping of equipment and consumables and storage areas.
- clean all areas of the school as directed by the Premises Manager in accordance with good cleaning principles, to the required standards, as laid down by the EMCOR SLA & Cleaning Services Specification and Local Education Authority requirements.
- To operate mechanical and electrical cleaning equipment in accordance with site training, instructions and manufacturers recommendations.
- To dilute and use cleaning products and materials as instructed and to manufacturers recommendations.
- Carry out regular replenishments of consumable items as directed by the Premises Manager in all toilets/activity areas inc. soap, toilet paper etc.
- To collect and remove all waste and rubbish from classrooms, activity areas and toilets in the school and remove to the agreed collection point for collection by the sub-contractor as directed.
- During school closure periods, carry out such duties as required to a deep clean level as directed by the Premises Manager to meet the L.E.A.s required standards. This will include walls, doors, FFE, carpets and polished floors, involving the application of polishes/seals and carpet shampooing based on the manufacturers recommended procedures.
- Notify the Helpdesk/Premises Manager or other designated EMCOR personnel of the necessity for any repair or maintenance work required for the safe and efficient operation of the school, retaining any detached parts found.
- To observe and comply with all Health and Safety policies, COSHH and other codes of practice for cleaning staff.
- In case of staffing short falls due to sickness or absenteeism, to assist in cleaning other areas as directed by the Helpdesk or Premises Managers. To carry out emergency cleaning duties, as and when required due to accident, sickness or vandalism.
- To carry out cleaning activities where a health hazard exists, subject to Risk Assessment, any PPE being identified and in place.
- To comply with instructions relating to security and confidentiality.
- Carrying out other duties and services which are not covered by any of the events listed above and within reasonable requirements and skills level, which include but not limited to (deputising other roles within sickness/holidays, collecting/delivering goods from other sites or suppliers etc) working additional hours over and above your contracted hours.
