Salary: Competitive + Allowances 

Working Hours: Monday - Friday. 07:45 - 16:30 (16:15 on Friday) 9 day fortnight, every 2nd Friday OFF!

Job Purpose:

EMCOR UK are looking for an enthusiastic and capable individual to join our Critical Environment Team. As Lead UPS engineer role will support and manage critical battery backup systems, ensuring all task are delivered on time, maximising efficiency and minimising disruption to the facility and all with in accordance with the service level requirements to ensure sites high level of availability.

About the role

What you'll do: 
  • Ensure that all members of the technical staff are sufficiently trained and experienced for the tasks they complete. To include but not limited to:
    • Carry out site visits for service and maintenance (PPM) requirements, fault diagnosis, testing and repairs on all types, makes and manufacture of UPS, batteries, switchgear, control systems and associated critical electrical
    • Document and support the corrective actions identified
  • Support and facilitate specialist subcontractors/vendors during planned, reactive or project tasks while ensuring they conform to the site procedures and agreed safety documentation.
  • Ensure that personnel issued works instructions and documentation required to complete tasks in accordance with the 12-week plan,
  • Review 3rd Party RAMS, following basic sanity checks,
  • Carryout battery impedance testing and battery replacements and installations.
  • ensure all contract documentation is processed, issued, receipted and distributed to appropriate stakeholders and records are kept in accordance with the contract requirement and contractor processes, primarily; Via PLOW’s, Monthly, Quarterly and Annual reporting.
  • Provide first line response, diagnosis and resolution for critical equipment.
  • Carry out investigations and inspections of UPS, batteries, switchgear, control systems, associated electrical
  • Carry out installation and commissioning of UPS and battery systems and assist on installations for a wide variety of critical power equipment.

Who you'll be:

  • Have proven, previous battery backup experience 
  • Hold a technical qualification in a relevant discipline 
  • Strong DC Electrical Knowledge & experience
  • Able to organise and manage own workload
  • Positive proactive attitude and can take ownership of the site
  • Aware of Critical environments and understand risk factor to site and operations
  • Good knowledge of LV switchgear, Generators, Cooling systems and UPS systems
  • Hold a valid UK driving license
  • Strong admin skills with Microsoft packages
