Working hours: 8am – 5pm, Monday – Friday

Role Overview:
 
This position will be responsible for ensuring the technical systems across DHSC Estate buildings are fully maintained and the necessary service criteria is achieved in both reactive and PPM tasks. The main duties will be to ensure that the all electrical aspects of the service are delivered in an effective, efficient and professional manner to the complete satisfaction of all of our direct and indirect clients. In addition this role will also be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works as required across the estate with duties including maintenance of a wide range of building works.
 
What you'll do:
  • Implement all Electrical maintenance and corrective works on the site in accordance with Maintenance Instructions, EMCOR and site specific procedures.
  • Perform testing and inspecting of Electrical Installations in accordance with industry standards.
  • Provide accurate feedback and information including but not limited to completed test sheets, routine rounds inspection sheets and work dockets containing durations of maintenance activities and observations.
  • Ensure that all plant and systems are maintained and operated in order to provide maximum efficiency, availability and reliability.
  • Carry out remedial and/or refurbishment works arising from breakdown or maintenance inspections.
  • Respond to reactive maintenance/breakdown calls for the helpdesk and carrying out remedial work as necessary, providing feedback information to customer and helpdesk as required.
  • Assume the role of Competent Person (Electrical) as authorised by the Authorised Person Controller.
  • Develop and retaining knowledge of site system failures and their causes and effects.
  • Carry out condition based monitoring surveys.
  • Carry out minor new works installations and testing.
  • Able to demonstrate a proven track record with (post apprenticeship) experience of planned maintenance in a highly regulated environment.
  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance.
  • Carry out any fabric works to a high standard.
  • Operation / inspection of electrical plant and equipment in accordance with agreed safe working practices and company quality standards.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on machines and equipment by checking for smooth operation of the same and replacing worn and defective parts.
  • Provide an excellent service delivery across the reactive and planned maintenance tasks as required by the building management.
  • Assistance in the preparation of estimates / quotations as required.
  • Conform to safety rules and apply good engineering and safety practices.
  • Ensure all tasks are carried out fully and promptly, in accordance with key performance indicators and service level agreements.
  • Ensure all reactive and planned tasks are closed down as and when completed to meet the contract KPIs/ SLAs.
  • Carry out other duties as may be reasonably requested from time to time by site management or the client.
  • Follow EMCOR’s code of conduct.
  • To undertake all duties in a safe, tidy and responsible manner in accordance with health and safety requirements.
  • Emergency call out duties as required and a willingness to work overtime.
  • Respond to reactive help desk requests.
  • Ensure that all logs and paperwork is filled in correctly and kept up to date.
  • Manage your own workload effectively and efficiently.
  • Comply with the clients company rules and maintain a high level of discipline.
  • Adherence to all current company procedures.
  • Knowledge of H&S and ensure compliance at all times
  • Supervision and monitoring of subcontractors to ensure adherence to all relevant specifications, standards, codes of practice and statutory regulations.
  • Develop relationships with all client teams and building users across DHSC London Estate

Person Specification

Who you'll be:
  • Qualified to City & Guilds 2360 Part 1 & 2 or equivalent NVQ & C&G 2382 -10 18th Edition Minimum requirements
  • C&G 2391-10 Inspection & Testing, & C&G 2391-20 Design & Verification preferred but not required
  • Experience of installation, testing and maintenance of LV distribution systems
  • Experience of standby power systems including prime movers and UPS
  • Experience of safe working practices and permit to work systems
  • Demonstrable skills in dealing and working closely with internal and external customers and suppliers on complex and interrelated issues on an ongoing basis
  •   Experience in general handy person tasks
  • General awareness of health and safety regulations
  • Must be able to work under their own initiative and keen to develop both their personal skills and the role
  • Trained in risk assessments and method statements
  • Excellent client facing skills
  • A positive approach to work
  • Be able to communicate effectively and have flexible approach to work patterns
  • Flexible approach to working times
  • Must be able to work efficiently and unsupervised
  • Available to work overtime when required at weekends and evenings
