Location: Stevenage

Salary: £43,000 per annum 

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8.00 am to 17.00 pm

About the role

Job Overview
 
To deliver safe, efficient, and compliant planned and reactive maintenance on pressure systems, steam/hot water boilers, and lifting equipment in accordance with statutory, regulatory, and client standards. The role supports business continuity in critical environments and ensures maximum asset uptime.
 
What you'll do: 
 
  • Champion safe working practices by following RAMS, permits, and legal requirement
  • Take ownership of tools, vehicles, and plant safety.
  • Ensure pressure systems and LOLER assets are compliant and ready for use
  • Deliver high-quality work that meets SLAs and KPIs.Apply correct isolation and permit-to-work procedures across various systems.
  • Step into the role of Authorised Person (AP) when needed, based on training and operational needs
  • Manage work orders from start to finish, ensuring timely and effective completion.
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, including full plant strip downs, gasket fabrication, pressure testing, and weld prep for inspections.
  • Prepare equipment for insurance inspections and confidently liaise with inspectors.
  • Identify and request spare parts, helping maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Support commissioning and handover of plant and equipment.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors on site, assisting with permits and escorting duties.
  • Keep asset data accurate and up-to-date in the CAFM system.
  • Perform testing and maintenance on GxP equipment to required standards.
  • Supervise others working in GxP areas, ensuring they’re trained and compliant with specific protocols
 
Who you'll be:
 
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Demonstrable experience in pressure systems, boilers, and/or lifting equipment.
  • Desirable: BOAS Category 2 or 3 training for industrial steam boilers.
  • Awareness of LOLER, PSSR 2000, and permit-to-work systems.
  • IOSH Working Safely (or willingness to obtain).
  • Good IT skills (Microsoft Office, CAFM/EAM systems).
  • Effective communicator; ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Engineering Tech or willingness to work toward registration desirable.
 
Other Factors:
 
  • Occasional travel for training/business needs.
  • Act as an Authorised Person (AP) in relevant mechanical disciplines as required, ensuring compliance with regulatory and operational standards. Selection for AP responsibilities will be based on training and operational needs.
  • Responsible for accurate data entry in CAFM systems.
  • Support subcontractor management under Team Leader guidance.
  • Ability to use company pool vehicle and equipment (where necessary)
  • Undertake occasional overtime to support business needs to maintain maximum asset uptime, whilst reducing impact to client purpose.
