Job Purpose
To lead the delivery of technical services across a complex facilities management contract, overseeing critical sites and supporting assets across South Wales, the West Country, and the Midlands.
The role is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of all planned and reactive maintenance through both in-house and subcontracted teams. You will ensure all works are completed on time, within budget, and to the required technical standards, while providing expert technical assurance to senior stakeholders.
Key Duties

Build strong and effective relationships with stakeholders across both the client organisation and internal FM teams.

Develop, mentor, and support the technical team to enhance service delivery, performance, and professional growth.

Maintain close liaison with the client to ensure full visibility of maintenance activities, operational performance, and emerging risks.

Ensure quality performance through regular auditing of engineering teams, with a focus on workmanship, housekeeping, compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Manage and audit subcontractors against established SLAs and KPIs to ensure consistent and high-quality service delivery.

Review operational data and performance insights, ensuring appropriate actions are taken where improvements are required.

Promote a culture of safe working across all engineering activities, ensuring adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.

Hold or work toward HV/LV Authorised Person status and undertake associated responsibilities.

Maintain full ownership of statutory compliance processes across the contract.

Provide technical leadership and guidance to the engineering function, resolving complex issues effectively.

Support the continuous improvement of maintenance strategies in partnership with the Senior Asset Manager.

Lead on the implementation of enhanced work scheduling and work-management processes.

Champion innovative practices that increase efficiency, operational excellence, and service quality.

Drive energy-efficiency initiatives and identify opportunities to optimise building performance across the contract.
Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to the engineering team, ensuring consistent delivery, technical excellence, and high standards of performance.

Oversee safe systems of work, quality assurance, and operational delivery across a range of complex and critical sites.
Candidate Requirements
-
Minimum five years’ experience in technical services management or supervision within a building services or hard FM environment.

HNC/HND/Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred, though strong vocational qualifications with relevant experience will be considered.

Working knowledge of critical LV/HV distribution systems including UPS and generators.

Current or previous LV/HV Authorised Person status desirable; training available.

Strong leadership and team-management capabilities.

Excellent knowledge of M&E building systems and associated compliance requirements.

Effective communication, interpersonal, and customer-engagement skills.

Ability to prepare clear, well-structured technical documentation and reports.

Proficient with IT systems including Microsoft Office, CAFM platforms, scheduling tools, and auditing software.

Strong understanding of current legislation, environmental standards, and quality frameworks.

Experience working within complex, high-dependency, or critical infrastructure environments is advantageous.
